Gateway to Schengen EU Countries - Romania — FAQ
Yes. This course is an add-on for students who have completed our Diploma in Aged Care or Diploma in Caregiving Level IV — it is not a standalone caregiving course.
No. Foundation English (targeting Speaking B1, Reading/Writing/Listening A2) is recommended since English is commonly used as a working language, but it is not a compulsory requirement. Romanian language is not required.
Nepali caregivers typically work in Romania under an employer-sponsored work permit, issued within Romania's annual foreign-worker quota and approved through Romania's territorial labour authority.
Yes. Romania has issued a foreign-worker quota of around 100,000 places in recent years, with care and elderly-support roles among the active recruitment categories for Nepali workers.
Romania became a full member of the Schengen Area on 1 January 2025, with land, air, and sea border checks fully lifted. This gives residents of Romania genuine day-to-day access to the Schengen travel area for visits and cultural/professional exposure. It does not, on its own, grant an automatic right to work in other Schengen/EU countries — a separate work permit is still required to take up employment elsewhere in the EU.
The course is 270 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) with a Total Qualification Time (TQT) of 774 hours, following the standard CPD UK / RQF-style qualification format that accounts for guided instruction plus independent study and assessment time.
